The arrival of MV. NORD UTOPIA at Dar es Salaam Port (DP World Terminal) marked another critical bulk cargo operation successfully supported by Kajote General Superintendence (KGS). The vessel discharged a shipment of granular sulphur in bulk, with KGS appointed to provide Discharging Supervision and Draft Survey Inspection to safeguard both operational performance and quantity accuracy.
Bulk sulphur cargoes present unique challenges at port, including strict safety considerations, spillage control, and the need for precise measurement. Recognizing these demands, KGS deployed experienced surveyors to oversee the operation from commencement through completion.
Operational Oversight at the Terminal
Throughout the discharge process, KGS maintained continuous on-site supervision, monitoring cargo flow from vessel holds to shore facilities. The team closely observed discharge sequences, terminal equipment operations, and coordination between ship and stevedores. By maintaining a constant presence, KGS helped ensure that handling procedures complied with terminal regulations and industry best practices, reducing operational risks and avoiding unnecessary delays.

Independent Quantity Determination through Draft Survey
To complement operational supervision, KGS conducted a full draft survey inspection on board MV. NORD UTOPIA. Draft measurements were carefully taken and assessed under prevailing port conditions, with particular attention given to vessel trim, ballast management, and stability factors. The survey results provided an accurate determination of the quantity of granular sulphur discharged.
All calculations and observations were documented in a clear and transparent survey report, offering the client an independent verification essential for commercial reconciliation and contractual compliance.

Delivering Reliable Marine Superintendence Services
The successful execution of services for MV. NORD UTOPIA demonstrates KGS’s capability to manage complex bulk cargo operations at Tanzania’s busiest port. By combining technical expertise with practical port experience, KGS continues to add value to cargo operations through accuracy, accountability, and professionalism.
Kajote General Superintendence (KGS) remains committed to delivering trusted discharging supervision, draft survey inspections, and marine surveying services, supporting efficient and transparent trade flows through Dar es Salaam Port and across the region.
